Her Majesty the The Queen, in her role as Colonel-in-Chief of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and now The Royal Regiment of Scotland opened the redeveloped Argyll’s’ Museum in Stirling Castle on the afternoon of Tue, 29 June.

The Museum, part of Army Heritage, has undergone a £4M redevelopment over the last 5 years, supported by our strategic partners, Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Funding has also been provided by the Army Museums Ogilby Trust and RHQ SCOTS.
The Museum is once again in a position to support the Royal Gun salutes that take place at the Castle during the course of the year and is available for other uses by the three Services. A significant focus of the Museum’s work is education and outreach across the communities in the former regimental recruiting area, with activities geared across the education sector, as well as providing a rich resource for research. The traditions of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlands were inherited by the 5th Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland, known as Balaklava Company.
Guests included Commander 51 Infantry Brigade & HQ Scotland, Brigadier Wrench and Brigadier Griffiths, Representative Colonel 5 SCOTS who is taking over as Chairman of the Regimental Trust that day. In addition there were key donors and others closely involved in the delivery of the project present.
