Personnel from across British Forces Cyprus played their part in supporting HMSDiamond during her short visit to Cyprus as a part of her wider mission in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Type 45 Destroyer anchored off the coast of Cyprus in October where they sent personnel ashore to work alongside the RAF Air Component Command. This also afforded them the opportunity to pick up a range of supplies to help them continue their mission.

“In addition to some invaluable training and integration with our RAF colleagues, we were able to take on medical supplies, munitions, naval stores and conduct personnel transfers”

Official spokesperson from HMSDiamond.

The visit also provided a vital and unusual training opportunity for personnel at RAF Akrotiri. Cpl Natalie Bain from the dog section was able to take Charlton, her military working drug detection dog, on board to search for drugs in a simulated exercise.
