Members of the Bicester Pioneer Association have pulled out all the stops, embraced that singular élan and esprit de corps that distinguishes the Pioneer Regiment, and set out to implement and deliver an enormous but truly successful project in providing meals for NHS Staff across the country.

What started with fifteen Royal Logistic Corps soldiers has now grown and the wider community has bolstered their numbers to form the Bicester Pioneer Volunteers, a mixture of Regular and Reserve soldiers and local residents.

All of the volunteers have given up their time and devoted themselves to working with the charitable organisation‘Salute The NHS.org’ where they can. They have embraced the task of packaging vital meals for brave NHS Staff currently working within COVID-19 wards and hospitals.

SaluteTheNHS.org was established by British businessman Ron Dennis CBE, best known for his former role as a major shareholder, CEO, chairman and founder of The McLaren Technology Group and the food and catering expert Nigel Harris, owner of Absolute Taste and former owner of Fresh Direct – one of the largest fresh food providers in the UK.

With an original grant of £1 million already donated and a further £500,000 pledged for match funding by DreamChasing (The Dennis Foundation) and production facilities and logistics provided by Nigel, along with an army of experts and kind partners – SaluteTheNHS.org has been created to help fight the war on Covid-19, bringing together results-driven professionals with deep experience in highly technical teamwork, strategic logistics, the production of safe, nutritious food and above all, the knowledge of what it takes to win. Ron is co-ordinating with, and receiving significant support and close co-operation from central Government, our hospitals, the army and other front-line organisations to ensure we support them with what they need.
